State identifies two men killed in Stonington boating crash

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection identified two men killed in a boating accident in Stonington on Sunday.

STONINGTON – Two men killed in a boating accident in the waters off Stonington were identified on Sunday.

David Motherway, 54, of Stonington and Brian Collie, 52, of Littleton, Co., were found adrift after their boat hit a wall of breeze off the coast, according to a DEEP spokesperson .

Motherway owned the boat, the spokesperson said.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Stonington Police, Fire Department, Environmental Conservation Police and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the area Saturday morning.

Connecticut Encon Police and the Encon Boat Accident Reconstruction Unit are investigating the accident, according to DEEP.
