SodaStream brings a new visual to its environmental commitment
During Earth Month, the focus is renewed on improving the planet. As more people have come to appreciate the impact everyday choices have on the environment, it’s more than the mantra reduce, reuse, recycle. SodaStream has been a strong voice for environmental responsibility. With his latest campaign, he’s extending his reach by lending a helping hand.
As part of this year’s Earth Month program, SodaStream is expanding its environmental story. While the brand has long believed that its kitchen essentials could help reduce the single-use plastic problem. Much has been said about plastic polluting the waters, but what about the impact on wildlife in this water.
Global CMO of SodaStream, Karin Schifter-Maor said, “As part of SodaStream’s environmental responsibility and obligation to the planet, we are always looking for ways to do better. This year’s Earth Month promotion is all about helping sea turtles. According to the brand, “SodaStream is committed to saving one baby sea turtle for every SodaStream sparkling water maker sold worldwide during the month of April.”
While the idea of saving sea turtles could inspire anyone to make a change, the campaign is more than just a heart-tugger. There’s a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor in the mix. Start the slow motion race on the beach to save this sea turtle.
As seen in the commercial, David Hasselhoff reprises his role as a lifeguard and helps save the sea turtles. While this Baywatch character may have sprung into action during a time of need, Hasselhoff appreciates that there’s no time to wait for measurable change. He said: “Each of us must do our part to contribute to a sustainable world. Our individual contributions will help collectively add to building a strong foundation to reverse the impending threat. Silence is not an option.
Although SodaStream has pledged to “save 78 billion single-use plastic bottles by 2025,” it’s not just about swapping out the beverage container. It’s about encouraging others to make change and encouraging others to take action. Ultimately, when everyone does their part, these baby sea turtles will have a better chance of swimming towards the next big adventure.
